Poem response: Playgrounds

In the poem http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/20297 by Laurence Alma-Tadema describes the way children think of men(adults). He is pretty much stating in the poem that children see or notice many more things that adults do not. When kids are at the sea or ocean they can find pretty rocks, sand dollars, and beautiful shells. While adults can rarely find 3 agates and a shell. At the end he says " But, when the snow is on the ground And all the puddles freeze, I wish that I were very tall, High up above the trees." I'm not sure if that means that the child wants to be dead and in heaven or tall like a adult.
