A Meal for the Ages

Betsy
Memorable Meal
People eat food everyday, but how many meals are memorable. I’m gonna tell you about my memorable meal. I love meat and mashed potatoes. I hadn't had meat in a while so when I saw the ribs in the oven my mouth started watering. I heard the potatoes being peeled. I could not wait for the meal so I ate mozzarella sticks.
The mozzarella sticks were made from mozzarella cheese and breading. They were on the plate with marinara sauce and perfectly laid around the marinara(3). They were delicious and the cheese was so melty(4).  There was nothing different than normal(1).
The pork ribs were put in the oven, seasoned, and lathered with barbecue sauce. The way it sat on the plate it could make a vegetarian's mouth water(4). The meat fell of the bone and the barbecue sauce was the  perfect amount of sweet and spicy(5). The creativity was nothing special, but the ribs were great(5).
The mashed potatoes were boiled then whipped with butter and milk. They plopped off the spoon and looked so delicious(4). The texture was so smooth and the taste was amazing(4). I love mashed potatoes and the way my mom makes them(4).
I had Skittles out of a package, so I ripped it open. They weren't on a plate, but they looked good in the package(3). They tasted like a rainbow and were fruity(5). I don’t know a lot of people who have Skittles for dinner, so I think it was pretty creative(5).

Have you ever wondered where your clothes come from and who makes them? Your clothes might come from Bangladesh or possibly China and where the clothes are made is China(40%), Vietnam(8%), Bangladesh and India(6%), Mexico and Indonesia(5%), El Salvador, Honduras, Pakistan, Cambodia(3%). Only two percent of clothes sold in the U.S. are made in the U.S. Stores like H&M, Forever 21, Benetton, Banana Republic, J. Crew,  and Childrens Place have their clothes made in sweatshops around the world. “Consumers are definitely hooked on walking into a store and buying something cheap and trendy, but more people are beginning to realize there are some hidden costs.” stated Elizabeth Cline. As Elizabeth Cline said “Clothing has gone from a long-term investment purchase to a disposable good, fast fashion has a lot of parallels to fast food. It’s a similar psychology to the dollar menu at McDonald's: You go in all the time for a quick, cheap fix.” In Bangladesh, a clothing factory collapsed and killed 1,127 workers because the company added extra floors with a lot more heavy machinery. Only getting paid two dollars a day($37 per month) in Bangladesh There are 4.5 million people employed in just 5,000 factories. China is the worlds first leading clothing exporter, Bangladesh is second. Only 10 countries make more than 80% of the U.S’s clothes.

I have never thought of where my clothes come from. My grandma does not shop at Walmart because the clothes are made in sweatshops. I don’t like the idea of sweatshops. In Berlin, people protested in front H&M after the collapse in Bangladesh. Some people are like “Oh my God, a dress for $4.99, and its cute!” but they don’t think about where it came from. Why don’t people that work in factories find a different job if they only get paid two dollars an hour, I think Burger King pays more. I think that this proves that we Americans need support from the other countries. Do people really care that much about what they wear, after reading this do you still wanna wear what you wear? Think about where your clothes come from.

Trees
I think trees are really cool. Not only do they give us oxygen, shade, and are really tall, but they also give homes to Squirrels, birds, and worst of all bee hives. I find it fascinating how they start as a little seed then grow into huge redwoods. I don’t like how when it rains it drops down from the trees. I like the smell of some trees. I’m not sure if this counts as a tree, but I got my hair pulled by a cherry blossom before.
Ants
I hate ants because all they do is crawl around on counters then crawl on me.  I think it is cool how they can carry something 50 times its weight.  Ants are so small, but some of them are evil. There are some types of ants that crawl up your pants and bite you…I think those are fire ants. I want to shrink down to ant size then go into their mound of dirt and see if they have mini bean-bag chair, massage chair, a hot tub. I just want to know how an ant lives.
